The First U.P. Church of Crafton Heights is a community that is rooted in the awareness that Jesus Christ both calls people to himself and sends them out for mission and service. This calling and sending does not happen in a vacuum, but in the context of the local, gathered community. Our calling is to be a congregation wherein those who are loved by God might sense his calling on their lives and respond by following the paths of discipleship that will lead them to the full utilization of their gifts in service to God and neighbor. For us, the Christian faith is not merely a series of doctrines to which one gives intellectual assent, but rather a way of life that is learned and "lived into" in the various stages of our lives. In a sense, we are a community of apprentices that have joined ourselves to the Master Craftsman, and we gather to share the gifts of knowledge, strength, creativity, and wisdom that we have received.
